Diet that lowers the risk of stroke

Diet can reduce the risk of stroke.

A stroke occurs when blood flow is cut off, preventing blood from reaching the brain.

This can be due to blockage of blood vessels or bursting of blood vessels. Those with heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol are at higher risk of stroke.

Therefore, following a diet that reduces the risk of these chronic diseases will also reduce the risk of stroke.

Healthy Fats and Omega-3 Fatty Acids

“Healthy fats and omega-3 fatty acids support brain health, These ingredients can be found in salmon, avocado, chia seeds, etc.” says Morgan Clare, a registered dietitian nutritionist in the US and author of Fit Healthy Mom.

Rachel Fine, another certified nutritionist and founder of To The Point Nutrition, said in a report published on eatthis.com, “The oil you use in cooking also affects the risk of stroke. Using ‘olive oil’ or ‘canola oil’ instead of soybean oil would be more beneficial for health.”

Eat less salt

“Dietary sodium increases blood pressure, which increases the risk of stroke, ” says Claire. Again, research claims that consuming this ingredient in moderate doses can reduce the risk of stroke.”

According to the advice of the American Heart Association, a daily maximum of 1500 ml. grams of sodium can be consumed. Eating less than this is better.

Dietary fiber

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides specific lifestyle guidelines to reduce the risk of stroke. These include regular exercise, abstinence from alcohol and following a healthy diet.

A healthy diet means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, along with plenty of dietary fiber. According to the agency, a review of the health data of 8,900 stroke patients found that adding 10 grams of dietary fiber to the diet could reduce the risk of stroke by about 12 percent.

Eat less meat

Eat less red meat to avoid stroke. Cow, Khasi, Buffalo etc all fall under the category of ‘Red Meat’. And the high level of saturated fat in this meat is the cause of the problem.

Weight loss isn’t everything

Rachel Fine says, “The best thing for health is a balanced diet. A diet that is only conducive to weight loss is not always good for health.”

Have a healthy relationship with food and avoid stressing about weight. A healthy habit is not healthy based on whether or not it causes weight loss.
